Challenge Introduces New Surface Mount Electromagnetic Transducer CSET05 Series: Provides Clear Signal in Ultra-Low Profile

DEER PARK, NY - (August 12, 2007) -- Challenge Electronics, a global supplier of sounding devices, microphones and speakers, now offers immediate availability on a new series of low profile electromagnetic transducers that provide excellent sound characteristics in a miniature, SMT package that’s lead free and RoHS compliant.

These low-profile devices are designed for a wide variety of applications including PDAs, medical instruments, hand held equipment, appliances and other systems that require high quality and performance at a low cost. The CSET05A transducers provide (typically) 83dB of sound, at 4,000 Hz. The CSET05B outputs (typically) an 82dB signal at 10cm, at 4,000 Hz. Both devices function reliably across a wide operating temperature range (-30 C to +85 C). Operating voltage is 2-4 Vo-p with a nickel alloy N50 vibrating diaphragm.

With a miniature foot print of 5.0 X 5.5 mm these transducers are space savers on the PCB. The overall height of each component is 3.0 - 0.2 mm for the CSET05A, and 2.5 - 0.2 mm for the CSET05B. Both variations weigh 0.6 g, and are provided in a LCP Vectra plastic case.

For added production convenience and economy, Challenge provides the CSET05 transducers in tape and reel packaging. Average per unit cost is $ 0.95 cents in 1,000s. Volume discounts are available.
